What happened
The Turin club went down to 7th in Serie A 2022/23 standings as the FIGC Court of Appeal released the latest verdict of the ‘Capital Gainas Case’.
Bianconeri used to successfully overturn the sanction of 15 points, which put them back in this season’s top-four.
However, they have been handed a deduction of 10 points in Serie A following the verdict from the Federal Court of Appeal after their recent financial scandal. As it stands, they’re now 7th in Serie A and fallen out of a European spot.
The Italian Football Federation’s statement can be read:
“Called by the Collegio di Garanzia dello Sport to renew its assessment of the sanction to be imposed on Juventus for the so-called ‘capital gains case’, the Federal Court of Appeal has sanctioned Juventus with 10 penalty points in the standings for the current sporting season,” reads .
“The Court also acquitted Pavel Nedved, Paolo Garimberti, Assia Grazioli Venier, Caitlin Mary Hughes, Daniela Marilungo, Francesco Roncaglio and Enrico Vellano of the charges brought against them.”
Juventus has responded quickly through Francesco Calvo, one of its directors.
“We are not satisfied with the penalty of 10 points, we will see if there are margins to appeal,” he confirmed.
“This year we are up against everyone and everything.”
Milan received massive boost
With Juventus fell out of top five, Stefano Pioli’s side are now back in the Champions League’s spots with two games to play.
The French’s impressive performance inspired his club within the very last few games to chase up for a top-four finish.
They are back in action and will facing Juventus next weekend before closing down the campaign against Verona at home.
