Finally, AC Milan got their first 2022-23 Italian Serie A victory outside of San Siro. They defeated Sampdoria, 2-1, in the latter’s home ground of Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa. Olivier Giroud clinched the pivotal goal, scoring a penalty in the 67th minute. Junior Messias opened the match with a conversion in the 6th minute. Meanwhile, Rafael Leão was booked for two yellow cards, the first instance Milan went down to ten men in league play this season. The win gave Milan 14 points. This is also the first time that they achieved back-to-back wins in the league this season. Nevertheless, they are only third on the table, owning an inferior tiebreaker to Napoli and Atalanta.
