And the away trip to Stadio Via del mare quickly turned into a nightmare for last season champions with two goals before first half reached the half an hour mark.
The opener came only three minutes into the first half, with Theo Hernandez chesting in an own goal, but it was Pierre Kalulu who also took charge of the conceded goal with his defensive blunder.
Federico Di Francesco almost doubled the lead at home if the Italian did not fire the ball wide from Valentine Gendrey’s long cross.
While Milan failed to create any possible goalscoring chances, the host succeeded in making it 2-0 in the 23rd minute, thanks to Federico Baschirotto’s header into the right corner.
