Serie A 2022-23 Highlights Lazio 4-0 AC Milan
Two consecutive games without winning putting pressures on Stefano Pioli’s men when the gap between AC Milan and Napoli only got bigger.
It was thought to be a tough game for the host, but it turned out to be a night to forget for Rossoneri.
Lazio were ahead just four minutes in, Luis Alberto cleverly created the chance for Milinkovic-Savic who coolly stroke into the bottom corner.
Mattia Zaccagni was on form to bundle home the rebound as he scored his third goal in three league games.
Milan’s shaky defending continued to be their weakness in the second half, with the Roma-based team going stronger to put them ahead, thanks to Pedro who brought a penalty when he was brought down in the box.
Alberto calmly beat Ciprian Tatarusanu from the spot kick. It was all over before the game went into the 80th mark, as Anderson slotted home a neat pass from Alberto to finish off Pioli’s side.
The result and the meaning
This was Pioli’s men first defeat in seven leagues matches. It seems like the chance to defend Serie A’s title is now quite far away as Napoli is now 12 points ahead of Milan on the standings.
According to Opta, Milan have conceded two goals at half-time without scoring in two Serie A games in a row for the first time since April 1997 (2-0 v Juventus and Inter, with Arrigo Sacchi in charge).
There must be improvements if the Milan side wants to close the gap.
Adam Marusic saw a shot come back off the post after latching onto Pedro’s through-ball, but Zaccagni was there to bundle home the rebound for his third goal in three league games.
Milan’s shaky defending continued to be their downfall in the second half, with Lazio going further ahead when Pierre Kalulu brought down Pedro for a penalty, which Luis Alberto blasted down the middle past Ciprian Tatarusanu.
With Milan staring down the barrel of a heavy defeat, Anderson slotted home after a neat pass from Luis Alberto to further embarrass Pioli’s side.
What’s next?
Milan will be back on Serie A action on Sunday when they host struggling Sassuolo.
