The summer transfer window in 2023 can be hectic for Milan, who have seen a string of players from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Sergino Dest, Brahim Diaz, and Bakayoko have all departed.
Tonali is only one official announcement away from the sale to Newcastle United, but the Champions League club wants more from Milan.
Tonali to Newcastle is imminent
Per Fabrizio Romano’s report, the Italian midfielder has agreed personal terms with the English Premier League side for €8m salary net per season plus €2m add-ons.
Once it is finalized, the deal can go up to €70m, which will give Rossoneri space and money for other reinforcements.
The final meeting is set to take place during the next hours for Sandro Tonali’s move to Newcastle. All parties involved will be there to get the agreement sealed and signed.
May Theo join Tonali at Newcastle?
Meanwhile, Gianluca di Marzio revealed that Newcastle and Atletico Madrid are targeting Theo Hernandez to reinforce the left side.
It is now up to Milan, who must evaluate whether to sell or keep such a valuable asset. Theo has been playing a crucial role for the Serie A giant since his arrival in 2019 for a fee of €22.80m.
The Magpies is rumoured to demand for Chiesa’s service, but nothing is firm yet.
The Hernandez family knows the La Liga giant Atletico very well, considering his brother Lucas played 110 games in the club. Still, the Rossoneri must think how it would look if they were to sell Tonali and Theo in the same window.
Newcastle is also eyeing Theo for the Champions League campaign next season after dramatically sealing Premier League top four.
No official bids have yet arrived at Milan’s desk, and the asking price is above the €80m demanded for Tonali’s signing, which therefore seems too high for Atletico Madrid’s possibilities. Still, for Newcastle, it’s somewhat affordable.
