Borussia Dortmund vs. AC Milan – Preview
While the Rossoneri were left frustrated in a goalless draw in a night full of wasted chances at Newcastle, Edrin Terzic’s men fell to a 0-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on MD1.
Defeat in the French capital snapped a 13-game unbeaten run across all competitions for BVB, who occupy last place in the Group F rankings with plenty of continental football left to be played, and they have responded to their opening Champions League setback with a pair of Bundesliga triumphs over Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim.
Stefano Pioli’s side suffered from a disastrous week, with the derby thrashed by Inter 5-1 before being held by Newcastle. But the 2022 UEFA Champions League semi-finalists bounced back with three wins in a row in the Serie A, giving a massive boost ahead of the clash against Dortmund.

Team News
Dortmund will hope that Marcel Sabitzer can make it in time to resume the actions as the striker suffered from adductor problem against PSG. Meanwhile, Mateu Morey and Thomas Meunier can be sidelined for knee and hamstring, respectively.
Milan new boy Ruben Loftus-Cheek sustained an abdominal injury against Lazio at the weekend and is reportedly set to sit out the Rossoneri’s next two matches before the international break.
Loftus-Cheek’s absence complicates Pioli’s midfield dilemma, as Ismael Bennacer (knee) and Rade Krunic (muscle) are also out of contention, so Yunus Musah is expected to join Tijjani Reijnders and either Tommaso Pobega or Yacine Adli in the trident.
Mattia Caldara (ankle) and Pierre Kalulu (muscle) are also confined to the visitors’ infirmary, and owing to his goal at the weekend, Pulisic can feel confident of holding off Samuel Chukwueze to start against his old club on the right flank.
Line-up
Borussia Dortmund’s predicted starting lineup:
Kobel; Ryerson, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Bensebaini; Ozcan, Can, Brandt; Malen, Fullkrug, Adeyemi
AC Milan’s predicted lineup:
Maignan; Calabria, Tomori, Thiaw, Hernandez; Musah, Adli, Reijnders; Pulisic, Giroud, Leao
Borussia Dortmund 0-1 AC Milan
Unbeaten on home soil since August 2022, Dortmund can prolong their hot streak at Signal Iduna Park against a depleted Milan team, whose midfield options are severely limited at the minute.
However, Rossoneri is unstoppable at this stage, with three consecutive league wins and it’s hard to see the visitors tamed by the Bundesliga giants.
