Stefano Pioli’s side went through a busy summer transfer window, in which the Milan side brought almost a whole new XI with a Sum €114.00m. It’s fair to say that the 2023 summer window holds the primary account for ranking #3 on the list of most Serie A expensive squads.

Rossoneri sit behind Juventus and reigning league champions Napoli in the ranking by CIES.
Milan paid the sum of €332, which was divided almost equally into three categories: Defense – €110m, Midfielders – €102m and Forwards – €105m. The sum of Milan’s current squad put them at 25th in the list of the top 100 most expensive clubs by transfer fees.
Milan’s rivals, Inter, sit #4 after investing the most in midfielders (€128m), while Rossoneri opted to build a solid back-four with €110m.
But even with nearly a new starting XI arrived, the total squad cost of Rossoneri increased by a relatively small amount compared to the previous campaign of 2022/23.
According to a report from Calcio e Finanza, Milan’s 2023/24 squad increased by €6m compared to last season.
The data collected was updated in June, only months before the transfer window, which is the closest to the reality.
