After an impressive loan spell, AC Milan made sure to keep Alessandro Florenzi on a permanent basis, tying him up to 2025 on a three-year deal. 

The Rome native has spent most of his career at his hometown club AS Roma as he debuted on the final day of the 2010-11 season, replacing Francesco Totti in their 3-1 win over Sampdoria in the Serie A. 

Florenzi then moved on loan to Crotone the following season, where he had been his most productive, with his eleven league goals are a high for a defender. After that, he moved back to Roma where he spent the next seven-plus seasons at the Stadio Olimpico. 

He was then known to hit one of the most iconic goals in Champions League history, when he fired a long-distance strike for a 1-1 draw against holders Barcelona in 2015. That goal eventually finished third in the Puskas Award voting. 

But a pair of consecutive ACL tears on his left knee saw him only limited to just thirteen games in the entire ‘16-’17 seasons, and although he recovered to return to form by having a key role into Roma’s semifinal run in the Champions League, the following seasons saw him loaned out to Valencia and PSG with mixed results. 

In 2021, Florenzi joined Milan on loan, and played a reliable role at right-back despite competition from Davide Calabria, appearing in 24 league matches and scoring twice, as the Rossoneri picked up their 19^th Scudetto, their first after an eleven-year wait. 

He made his full international debut in 2012 in a friendly against France. He was part of the Azzuri side that won the Euro 2020 but was unable to translate it into World Cup appearances when the Italians miss consecutive occasions.
