Serie A – Inter Milan 1-0 AC Milan Highlights
Home ground advantage really put Inter ahead as Inzaghi’s side dominated while AC Milan failed to register a short on target in another frustrated show.
Lautaro Martinez forced Ciprian Tatarusanu to pull a reflex save, which was early sign of a bright game for the Argentinian.
The home team was denied a penalty when Edin Dzeko went down easily under a challenge from Matteo Gabbia, a goal seemed to be happening in matter of time.
Then came the opening goal in the 34th minute, when Martinez produced a fantastic header to nod in Hakan Calhanoglu’s corner from the left.
Milan manager Pioli brought Rafael Leao and Alexis Saelemaekers in bid for attacking improvement but it was Olivier Giroud who really threatened the home team.
The French striker, however, had his header sailed over the crossbar and was never going to trouble Andre Onana.
Further goals instead appeared more likely at the other end.
Romelu Lukaku had one ruled out when he was deemed to have dragged down Malick Thiaw and Martinez had another chalked off for a marginal offside, but his first-half finish proved decisive.
Milan’s slump continues
This is Milan’s fourth defeat in a row and it happened for the first time since Vincenzo Montella was in charge in 2017.
Rossoneri failed to revenge Inter for the heavy defeat by 3-0 at Supercoppa Italiana last month.
Pioli is now under, or he has already been this season, significant pressure, especially when Inter have won three games on the spin in all competitions and sit 13 points adrift of a seemingly unstoppable Napoli side.
What’s next for Milan
A wounded Milan are at home to Torino on Friday to seek for some consolation after a strings of defeat which did some serious damage mentally to the Rossoneri.
